Descripción

This specimen of fluorite stands out for its enormous size and its accompanying species. It is an octahedron that has truncated vertices on the faces of the cube, with polysynthetic growths on the faces, a certain shine, and a very curious color zoning when light passes through it, allowing you to observe crystals most likely of pyrite or sphalerite included. It is accompanied by a small matrix formed by pyrite and sphalerite crystals in which a pseudohexagonal aggregate of geochronite stands out. This rare antimony-lead sulfosal Pb14Sb6S23, which forms series with jordanite (Pb14As6S23), presents the characteristic crystals with striated faces. Both species have been analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). These specimens are a novelty from this little-known Peruvian mine.
